The Surreal

Although the British artists are often seen as being slightly late to the official Surrealist party, those who embraced this wonderful and nebulous world did so with gusto. In fact, you can make a case for deep strand of surrealism being inherent to the British character - think Lewis Carroll, the Victorian fairy painters, and back further through The Castle of Otranto and A Midsummer Night's Dream!

Whatever manifestation it takes, the surreal keeps piquing our interest, so have a look and see what hints of this multi-faceted form you might like to look into!
