Published to accompany a 1970 exhibition at the Musee des Arts Decoratifs, Paris, I will freely admit that this was a new one for me. However, when you look though the book, poster, record cover and advertising designs, as well as the typographic and graphic styling, it is clear that this show, covering the past and present members of the Push Pin Studios, documents a period of graphic design that anyone familiar with the late 60s and 70s will recognise. Founded in New York in 1954 by Milton Glaser and Seymour Chwast
If you are familiar with the kind of imagery of The Beatles' Yellow Submarine cartoon film, then you will find this a kind of American equivalent and the huge range of products the catalogue shows suggest that most of us may well have seen, read, listened to or bought something that exhibits this 'Push Pin Style'.
A fascinating book, and a rather cool and outre object to have on your shelves!
