William Nicholson

With a major exhibition of his work opening soon at Pallant House in Chichester, you might want to do a little advance reading on this wonderful artist. Spanning the London of the 1890s and the Edwardian period right through to the 1940s, Nicholson's career as portraitist, graphic artist, still-life painter and landscapist reads a bit like a character from a novel by Max Beerbohm (who he painted!), but all the way through his work is always something special and is rightly still very highly thought of.
