Since my earliest days in Modern British art, I was delighted to visit older clients who lived in some amazing modernist buildings around the country and had wonderful c20th furniture and objects as an integral part of their lives.

Even down to the Lucie Rie cups (often cracked!) in which they served coffee, it was impressed upon me that these were aspects of the artistic world of the c20th which functioned together and alongside the sometimes more celebrated 'art' but drew on the same sources.
