Euan Uglow

The recent publication of Andrew Lambirth's The Uglow Papers and exhibitions at Browse & Darby and Hazlitt Holland-Hibbert has really thrown a spotlight on this 'painter's painter', an artist who is now finally being recognised as a key figure in the post-war figurative movement in Britain. Alongside Freud, Kossoff, Bacon, Andrews and others, Uglow was completely devoted to the craft of painting, drawing and seeing and through his teaching passed those key parts of the artist's repertoire on to new generations.
