Euan Uglow

It looks as though the visitors to the recent Uglow exhibition at MK Gallery really enjoyed the opportunity to see some of his best works together, and alongside the publication of Andrew Lambirth's The Uglow Papers and exhibitions at Browse & Darby and Hazlitt Holland-Hibbert, this has really thrown a spotlight on this 'painter's painter'.

Uglow is an artist who is now finally being recognised as a key figure in the post-war figurative movement in Britain. Alongside Freud, Kossoff, Bacon, Andrews and others, Uglow was completely devoted to the craft of painting, drawing and seeing and through his teaching passed those key parts of the artist's repertoire on to new generations.
