Published alongside a strong 2016 exhibition at Abbot Hall Gallery, this volume looks at Winifred’s lifelong connection to Cumberland, a part of Britain that was her home base throughout her life.
The paintings included are almost all ones painted within Cumberland and the selection was particularly strong in the classic 'still life before a window/landscape' images that Winifred did so well. It also included a very good group of paintings from the later part of her career and her fresh and colourful vision continues to delight us.
An essential volume for the Winifred Nicholson fan and one that is now becoming quite hard to find
