Published to accompany a 2010 exhibition at New York gallery of McCaffrey Fine Art, this catalogue features an interesting essay on Scott and his work by David Anfam, a leading expert on Abstract Expressionism and in particular Mark Rothko. This re-affirmation of Scott's international position in his time is important as he, like many of his British contemporaries, had important connections and friendships with American and European artists. Seeing them all as part of the international avant-garde of the time is a welcome antidote to the tendency to scale back the contributions of the British artists and present them as a parochial version of their peers which is, of course, nonsense but nevertheless persists. 

This exhibition showed a particularly strong group of works from the 1950s, a decade in which Scott was establishing a strong position in the US.
