A big book to fulfil a big project, this important monograph and catalogue on Victor Pasmore has been a must-have on the shelves of collectors of post-war British art since its publication. Great production values for the time, there is a lot in this book; not only the essays by Bowness and Lambertini, but copious quantities of very high quality images in colour and black and white, extracts of Pasmore's writings on art, a bibliography, the catalogue of the paintings and reliefs, plus the catalogue of the graphic works up to 1979.

Pasmore was a key figure for abstraction in the post-war period, having developed in the Euston Road manner in the 1930s but then moved over towards a much more geometric style and then constructions and reliefs, his 'going abstract' was a definite statement of intent and exemplar for many younger artists in the 1950s and 1960s and his teaching was considered influential and revolutionary.
