Illustrated throughout in colour and black and white. This volume is however lacking its original card slipcase

Covering his paintings of the 1980s, this is a very informative and useful volume on the work of Sean Scully, the internationally renowned Irish-American painter.

For many people, Scully's paintings of this period are the key statements in the development of his art. Creating a vocabulary of striped canvases, often made up of separate elements, these large and bold paintings mark a departure from what Scully felt was the dominance of Minimalism in American art, introducing a poetic and painterly aspect to abstract work.

This book marks part of the ongoing project to produce a five-volume catalogue raisonne of Scully's painted works; to date it is, I believe, the only volume to have reached publication
