The Battersea Park sculpture shows had started in 1948 as an initiative from the GLC and London County Council and were incredibly popular, showing a range of work, mostly new(ish) and mostly British, to a large audience. They took place every three years, so with Holland Park being the venue for 1954 and 1957, this was the third exhibition at Battersea.

The catalogue includes, as well as lots of images, quite decent biographies for all those artists included. A useful volume for the student of post-war sculpture in Britain.
