Artist: Samuel Palmer
Authors: Raymond Lister and Lowell Libson
Publisher: Leger Galleries
Date: 1992
Condition: Very good, apart from some sunning to the spine which has faded the red card cover a little, this appears to be almost as new. The owner has inked (neatly!) the exhibition title onto the spine. Loosely inserted is a single sheet addendum with an additional exhibit listed.

The basic premise for this 1992 Leger Galleries exhibition was to gather together a quite incredible group of works by Samuel Palmer to celebrate their centenary of art dealing. As if that were not enough, all the works included had Leger provenance in their history!

With hindsight we can also see the sad fact that the changing art world was coming for some of the old-fashioned dealerships such as Leger and by 1996 it had been sold, the Leger name finally disappearing a few years later.

The short essay by Raymond Lister is interesting for the Modern British collectors in that it looks at Palmer and his influence on the c20th artists, especially Craxton, Vaughan, Minton and the other neoromantics in the 1940s
