Artist: Pablo Picasso
Author: Rebecca West
Publisher: Marlborough Fine Art
Date: 1955
Condition: Printed card covers with the original onionskin wrapper with turquoise printed text, the covers in good condition with light tanning to the edges, the onionskin complete but fragile along the folds, a little tanned along the spine and one red ink stain to the front. Internally, very clean and tidy.

The drawings included in this catalogue had been created by Picasso over a nine week period from late 1953 to early 1954 and had been previously published in the magazine Verve (Vol.VIII, No.29-30). The introduction to the Verve publication by Miss (later Dame) Rebecca West was republished by Marlborough for their catalogue. As many of the drawings are dated, the fecundity of the artist's imagination is clear - image after image of figure groups, animals, studios, women, nudes, artists, clowns, horses fill the pages.

A fascinating insight into the artist's creative process.
