Artist: Paul Cezanne
Author: John Rewald
Publisher: Thames and Hudson
Date: 1984
Condition: The first edition, complete with the original green cloth-bound slipcase with tipped-in colour plate and gilt embossing, green cloth boards to the volume, a modicum of fading to the spine but otherwise in extremely good condition. Internally very clean, tidy and unmarked, illustrated extensively in black and white and colour.

John Rewald was one of the pre-eminent art historians on the post-impressionist period and wrote extensively on Renoir, Seurat, Pissarro, Van Gogh and Gauguin in addition to his magisterial studies of the work and life of Cezanne. This volume, the catalogue raisonne of the artist's watercolours, is still a vital reference work for anyone interested in Cezanne. Providing not only extensive annotations for each entry, there is also a bibliography, exhibition listing and concordance section.

A very fine example of a very important book for the Cezanne scholar, curator, collector or art professional.
