The cloth boards with embossed titles are a little faded to the spine and edges, a slight knock to the lower front corner and a pencil scribble to the back cover. Internally very clean and tidy, with 8 colour plates and several black and white illustrations. An illustration of Cezanne's 1874 Portrait de M.Choquet has been pasted to the inside front cover
Originally published in 1923, Vollard's biography of Cezanne is one of the classic early volumes on the artist and retains an exceptionally readable style.
