Artist: Paul Nash
Author: Paul Nash
Publisher: Faber & Faber
Date: 1949
Condition: The book itself is a first edition, in good, clean and complete condition consistent with its age. It has the original unclipped dust wrapper, designed by the artist's brother, John Nash, but this is a little tired and the front flap is detached but present. There are some chips and nicks to edges of the wrapper and the spine of wrapper is discoloured.
Nash's posthumously published memoir was intended to be the first of a series, but it stops at 1914 as he found himself unable to progress further. Later editions include some of the notes for further volumes. However, it still provides a very interesting and insightful read, with Nash taking us through his early years and then to the Slade. A must for anyone interested in this intriguing and complex artist.
