A very well-produced catalogue which accompanied the major 2003 Pompidou Centre retrospective of de Stael's work. He was hugely well-regarded in the post-1945 period, with his distinctive take on the meeting point between figuration and abstraction being especially praised. Collectors of British art of the 1950s and 1960s will definitely find this volume of interest as a result of his influence on a whole generation of painters.
