Although the Swiss artist Bill was a very well-established figure by the 1960s, and had friendships and connections with several British artists (such as Ben Nicholson, Barbara Hepworth and Marlow Moss) dating right back to the 1930s, this exhibition at Erica Brausen's Hanover Gallery was, surpringly, his first solo show in the UK.
The exhibition of paintings and sculptures shows Bill's rigorously non-figurative abstraction to advantage, despite the small format. It is accompanied by an English translation of an essay on Bill's work by Max Bense, originally published in Art International in 1963
