Published to accompany a major exhibition at London’s National Gallery, this catalogue includes a cross-section of key works from Freud’s long career.

I especially enjoyed the paintings from his early period in this show - there is an intensity to those works which is heightened by the almost miniaturist technique. When that shifted in the 60s towards a more expressive type of brushwork, the tone changes - the intensity is still there but is filtered through a different lens.
