A useful and comprehensive monograph, with a chronology by the artist's wife, this is a welcome volume on an artist who is considerably less well-known than his work might suggest. The early work has elements of the Piper/Ravilious/Bawden about it, yet is never imitative, and his later more abstracted work, often including collage elements, continues to delight.
