Artist: Juan Gris
Author: Daniel-Henry Kahnweiler
Publisher: Lund Humphries
Date: 1947
Condition: A first edition hardback of this major early monograph on Gris, complete with original unclipped dust wrapper. The wrapper is a little grubby, with small losses at the foot of the spine and top of the front cover, one or two other small nicks and tears to the edges. The book itself is in the original ivory linen with red embossing and is in generally very nice and tidy condition, a little tanning to the pages and with the owner's name in ink to the first flyleaf.

Kahnweiler was Gris' dealer for many years and thus had access to letters and archive materials not previously published. This first English monograph on the artist is still a major resource for anyone studying Gris and his work as it also includes a useful bibliography and exhibition listing as well as reproducing several of Gris' own writings on art. Largely illustrated in black and white, it is a very imposing volume and filled with interest.
