Published to accompany Moore's 1960 Whitechapel exhibition, this show formed part of a series of major presentations of contemporary and mid-century art by the gallery's dynamic director, Bryan Robertson. By focussing on Moore's recent output, the exhibition avoids becoming a retrospective and reminds the viewers that whilst he had been a leading figure in the art world since the mid-20s, he was still a force to be reckoned with. Indeed, some of Moore's most powerful sculpture was produced in the 1950s. Well-illustrated throughout, often with Moore's own photos of the pieces, this is a useful catalogue for any Moore scholar or enthusiast.
