A lavishly illustrated and very interesting book which looks not only at Moore’s career and
work but also his influence on the wider sculptural world, especially in Europe.
It is also a volume that I often find isn't as well known as it might be, even with Moore aficionados, but I have consulted my own copy a lot over the years. The author's wide-ranging emphasis sometimes raises interesting alternative theories and her investigation of Moore's influence on artists in other countries such as Japan, the old East Germany and Poland is very thought-provoking. At nearly 500 pages and with a lot of illustrations, it is not a light read, but there is plenty in here to satisfy anyone with an interest in Moore's work and ideas.
