In the 1950s, Marlborough held a series of exhibitions of the big European names of the early c20th, and this Laurens show in 1957 was part of this. Nicely produced and illustrated throughout in black and white, these catalogues are useful reference tools but also tell us a little about the style of the times. The use of coloured raw papers to contrast with the images, quite funky typography and almost fluorescent orange endpapers make this feel a much more contemporary production than being almost seventy years old!
