The German painter, printmaker and educator Heinz Trokes (1913-1997) was a well-known participant in international artistic events in the post-war period, including exhibiting in the first three Documenta exhibitions. He was friends with several key European figures in the 1950s, such as Riopelle, Wols, Ernst and Matta and exhibited widely.
