Braque was, like Picasso and Matisse, one of the major influences on British art in the post-war years, so this show at the Tate Gallery in 1956 would have offered a fantastic opportunity for the artists of the day to stand in front of his works. Part of a run of what now appear to be incredible exhibitions in London in the mid 1950s (Mondrian, Pollock, de Stael, US c20th art, to name but a few), this catalogue, illustrated almost entirely in black and white, is stuffed to bursting with wonderful examples of Braque's art.
