The first major biography of this important artist and still a fantastic read. For many, myself included, this book provided their first exposure to Auerbach’s art. The text is very accessible but covers the work and career in depth and the images are strong. With 174 illustrations in black and white and 80 in colour, there is plenty here to see.
A very useful book whether you are new to Auerbach or an old hand.
