Bacon's Marlborough exhibitions in the 1960s were major events, both commercially and artistically. Bringing new work to the notice of the international collectors who were now keen to get hold of a painting, these exhibitions were a key element in the balancing act of keeping interest not quite fully satisfied so there was always more demand.
There are some classic Bacon images and sitters in this show - Henrietta Moraes, Lucian Freud, George Dyer, Isabel Rawsthorne and Muriel Belcher all appear here, a microcosm of the artist's world.
