Helen Binyon was a long-time friend of Ravilious, having met him at the Royal College of Art in the 1920s. She was a talented artist herself and maintained friendships with many notable painters, sculptors, designers, writers and printmakers of the period.
This is a very welcoming book to read; illuminating, personal and full of images, it helps to capture not only a sense of the artist at the heart of it, but also the world in which he worked.
