Artist: Constantin Brancusi
Author: David Lewis
Publisher: Alec Tiranti
Date: 1957
Condition: A first edition hardback with the original dust wrapper over the mustard yellow boards with silver-grey embossed text. The wrapper is complete and unclipped, with some minor chips along the edges and one small torn section to the lower edge verso. Internally this book is very clean and tidy. Inside the back cover is the bookseller's label for Lechertier Barbe Ltd of Jermyn Street, London.

David Lewis was a writer, architect and artist who published several books on the arts and this small volume on Brancusi is still keenly sought after. The writing on the artist is still very readable and considering how little-known he was outside modernist circles, would have made a very useful introduction to his work as well as adding to the knowledge of those already familiar with his sculpture.
