Circle is an absolutely key volume for the study of modernism in Britain in the 1930s, and with the revival of interest in the period during the 1960s, Faber decided to produce this large format reprint of the original.

The book is divided into sections on Painting, Sculpture, Architecture and Art & Life, presenting works and writings by a whole host of major figures, both British and European. By the late 1930s, several of the Europeans had settled in London, some for good, other en route to the US and elsewhere, but for a short time London could claim to be the hub of ideas for the modernist wave. Extensively illustrated in black and white and filled with a plethora of essays and short writings, this really does give you a flavour of the period and the modernist avant-garde.
