The Scottish painter, sculptor and performance artist Bruce McLean is a bona fide survivor of the 60s and 70s generation who redefined what art actually is.
Having studied under Anthony Caro and Phillip King at St.Martin's in the mid 60s, he produced some marvellously memorable performance pieces such as the Pose Work for Plinths series of 1971 where the artist becomes the sculpture itself.
The painting and sculpture he subsequently produced has a strong element of colour and bold line to it that feels like it should hold strong interest for fans of contemporary art.
