Lynton's 1993 monograph is a major work, covering Nicholson's life and work in depth and with copious illustrations over almost 500 pages. A key volume for the Nicholson devotee, but it also sheds light on some of the other important figures in his life, such as Winifred Nicholson, Barbara Hepworth, Alfred Wallis, Christopher Wood et al.
