Authors: Herbert Bayer et al.
Publisher: Royal Academy
Date: 1968
Condition: Card covers, with the original blue and coloured dust wrapper, this is heavy paperback format catalogue, in generally sound and complete condition, barring some minor scuffs and handling marks to the edges of the wrapper. However, the glued spine seems very dry and I am reluctant to open the book fully for fear of this cracking and loosening the pages, hence I have only photographed the cover. The catalogue itself is very clean and complete.
This monster exhibition at the Royal Academy in 1968 covers the full gamut of the Bauhaus and its many aspects, including design, textiles, architecture, painting, sculpture and others, and is richly illustrated and annotated. The volume of information is quite overwhelming, and the extensive annotations are very useful for anyone interested in this highly influential lodestone of modernism. Extensively illustrated throughout, there are also several colour plates and the whole is neatly divided into defined categories.
