Always an essential volume for the shelf of any Hepworth collector, this book is dedicated to the sculpture she produced in just one decade when the work itself was still virtually new, an almost unheard of luxury for any artist at the time. Bowness’ writing on Hepworth still carries a powerful insight. The large format plates, which are plentiful, are in addition to the catalogue section, so it is a book that is both useful and visually appealing.  

Stylishly presented in the graphic mode of the time, this book also includes a select bibliography and exhibition listing for the period covered, as well as the transcript of a interesting conversation between the artist and Alan Bowness from 1970.
