As well as offering a wonderful insight into Wallis’ life and art through Mullins’ very accessible writings, this book is a valuable resource for Wallis collectors as it establishes the authenticity of a host of works which are beyond doubt for an artist whose market is sadly often beset with fakes.

The list of illustrations is, as was usual for the time, complete with many of the owner's names, helping to not only fill in the provenance, but demonstrate how, until relatively late after his 'discovery', Wallis' work was still very much held by those artists and collectors in the Nicholson/Hepworth/Ede/Stokes circles
