Published in 1942, The Little Red Engine Gets A Name is a classic of childrens' literature but features here because of the wonderful illustrations throughout by Lewitt-Him, the partnership of Jan Lewitt and George Him. Having arrived from Poland in London in 1937, they were unusual in working as a duo at a time when most designers worked solo. Their work included a lot of posters, advertising and book illustrations, with this book, amazingly produced during the darker days of WWII, being one of the most known and best-loved examples from their career.
