Hans and Elspeth Juda were notable collectors of contemporary art, mostly British, in the 1950s and early 60s and were right at the hub of artistic London. They famously appear in the essential document of the period Snowdon, Robertson and Russell's Private View, where a photograph of a party at their home includes guests as varied as George Christie, John Sainsbury, Mary Quant, Theo Crosby and Brett Whiteley. Their auction at Sotheby's in 1967 presented a wide range of artists, and included some notable works by Moore and Hepworth, a large group of Pipers and several major pieces by Sutherland as well as several by younger artists.
