Modernism in Britain between the Wars: Volumes from the library of Gordon & Ursula Bowyer Part 2
The 1920s and 1930s in Britain were times of great contrast; much still harked back to the late c19th and the wounds of the First World War were still fresh, yet there were also those who looked forward to a new kind of future.
During the 1930s, the embryonic modern movement in Britain was bolstered by the arrival of many major figures of the European avant-garde who sought refuge from oppression and the contribution they made to British art and cultural life is still felt today.
This second selection of volumes from the library of Gordon and Ursula Bowyer reflect that vision, something that had affected both their lives when young, and would be key to their professional careers going forward after WWII
